About the Department
The Microbiology Department supports infectious disease diagnosis through culture-based testing, pathogen identification, and antimicrobial susceptibility analysis.
Using automated incubation systems and mass spectrometry identification, our team provides rapid, clinically meaningful results that support effective patient management.
All workflows operate under CLIA regulatory standards and follow CLSI-referenced performance expectations.

Our microbiology section processes more than 2,000 Urine Cultures every month.

Meet the Team
Dr. Alfred Iqbal
With more than two decades of experience in CLIA-accredited laboratories, Dr. Alfred Iqbal is a recognized leader in microbiology, molecular biology, and public health.
He has directed multidisciplinary teams at state and county health laboratories, including serving as Technical Programs Branch Chief at the Colorado State Public Health Laboratory.
Dr. Iqbal’s leadership in infectious disease testing, biosafety, and laboratory modernization supports the lab’s readiness and responsiveness across all diagnostic disciplines.
Corey Kitchens
With over 15 years of laboratory experience and nearly a decade in leadership roles, Corey Kitchens oversees daily laboratory operations and cross-departmental collaboration.
He holds a Bachelor of Science with a certificate in Cytotechnology and is certified as a Cytologist by the ASCP.
Corey’s expertise in cytology, molecular diagnostics, and quality systems management ensures that Florida Woman Care Laboratory continues to operate with consistency, compliance, and excellence.
Dr. Ifeanyi Nwadukwe
Dr. Ifeanyi Nwadukwe leads Florida Woman Care Laboratory with a vision centered on quality, innovation, and collaboration.
Board-certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology with subspecialty training in Cytopathology, he has over a decade of experience in women’s health diagnostics.
As Laboratory Medical Director, Dr. Nwadukwe oversees strategic growth, AI integration, and clinical excellence across cytology, histology, molecular, and clinical laboratory departments.
