About the Department
The Pathology Department provides expert diagnostic interpretation of gynecologic and breast tissue specimens.
Using advanced histology processing and immunohistochemistry, our pathologists deliver accurate and clinically actionable findings.
All workflows meet CLIA requirements and follow CAP accreditation standards.

More than 6,000 surgical and biopsy specimens are evaluated each month.

Dr. Ifeanyi Nwadukwe
Dr. Ifeanyi Nwadukwe leads Florida Woman Care Laboratory with a vision centered on quality, innovation, and collaboration.
Board-certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology with subspecialty training in Cytopathology, he has over a decade of experience in women’s health diagnostics.
As Laboratory Medical Director, Dr. Nwadukwe oversees strategic growth, AI integration, and clinical excellence across cytology, histology, molecular, and clinical laboratory departments.

Dr. Michele Lomme
Dr. Michele Lomme is a gynecologic and breast pathology specialist with extensive experience in women’s health diagnostics and academic medicine.

Dr. Elena Bishop is a board-certified pathologist with fellowship training in cytopathology.

Dr. Zulfia McCroskey
Dr. Zulfia McCroskey serves as Technical Supervisor for the Cytology Department, overseeing implementation of the Hologic Genius Digital Pap AI platform and maintaining the lab’s rigorous quality standards.
With dual fellowships in Surgical Pathology and Cytopathology, she brings exceptional diagnostic expertise and a passion for continuous improvement in women’s health diagnostics.

Melissa Lawson
Melissa Lawson is a USF undergrad with graduate semesters at USF Health Morsani College of Medicine in Anatomy. GO BULLS!
She has 12+ years of experience in anatomic pathology and laboratory operations.
Melissa is passionate about maintaining the highest laboratory standards while supporting pathologists with precise, high-quality slides that contribute to accurate patient diagnoses.
Dr. Edyta Rotundo
Dr. Edyta Rotundo brings broad expertise in surgical pathology, cytopathology, and hematopathology.
Before joining FWC Lab, she practiced at Bristol Hospital, where she served as Medical Director of Hematology and Blood Bank and Assistant Medical Director of Pathology.
Her extensive clinical experience, multidisciplinary expertise, and longstanding commitment to laboratory quality enhance FWC Lab’s ability to deliver accurate and timely diagnostic care to the women and providers we serve.

Dr. Leslie Lopez-Calderon
Dr. Leslie Lopez-Calderon is a board-certified pathologist in Anatomic Pathology and Cytopathology with extensive experience in surgical pathology and cytology. Prior to joining FWC Lab, she served as Assistant Professor of Pathology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and practiced at Regional One Health Medical Center in Memphis. She has also held several laboratory leadership positions including Medical Director of Cytology and Director of Anatomic Pathology. Her clinical and academic experience supports FWC Lab’s commitment to high quality diagnostic care and collaboration with women’s health providers.
